When the flashcards program has finished loading, click on the above
button to launch the flashcards window.
This new version of my flashcards has many improvements over the previous
version, including the much asked for ability to run as a stand-alone program.
1st and 3rd tones don't display correctly for some people. Try selecting
other fonts from the Font menu if you have this problem.
I'm sorry, the source code to the flashcards is not available.
Flashcard Set-up
Please visit my page on how to set up and run the flaschards. Be
sure to get the Internationalized version of Java 2 Runtime Environment and not the English only.
Running Off-line
To run off-line, you first need to do the regular installation steps,
including installing Java, having a Chinese font, but not including changing the access permissions.
Automatic Installation (recommended)
If you are running Microsoft Windows, you can install the flashcards by downloading and running the
Flashcards setup program. This
will allow you to run the flashcards from the Windows Start menu under "ChineseTools".
Manual Installation
Download this zip file
and save it on your computer, preferably in a new directory called "flashcards".
Unzipping the file (use WinZip) leaves
two files, flashcards.html and flashapp.jar. To run the flashcards off-line,
open the flashcards.html file in your browser. You won't need to be connected.
You can then use the flashcards as usual.
